Half Day Camps
These weeks will be horse-intense beginner through intermediate wrangler day camps for youth ages five to 18. The program runs from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. for four days.
Campers will not only learn how to ride horses or expand their current skills but will also learn equine behavior and basic skills for equine care. There are multiple levels of Horse Day Camp. Each level is designed to match your camper’s current proficiency, and allow them to safely master certain skills before advancing to the next level.
For beginners, having fun and learning to be safe and confident while leading, saddling, and riding a horse are top priorities. The days will include horseback riding and other activities in the barn-like horse chores, equine education, and bonding with fellow campers through groundwork training with their horses. Intermediate riders will add to the basics with skills like balance and feet placement, leg cues, leads and loping, and bareback riding. The camp’s instructors will take great care to place each rider at their appropriate level.
The week will end with a horse show for parents and family in the afternoon of the last day, and campers will receive a photo of themselves with one of the horses they rode during the week as well as a 2021 Horse Day Camp t-shirt.
11 a.m. to 2 pm. – One hour of horseback riding (one of the areas of emphasis listed above) and the daily equine education class. Help grain and turn out at the end of the day.
